The Naze Tower is a Grade II Listed Building, constructed in 1720 originally as a navigational point for sailing ships coming in and out of the nearby port. In the meantime, the Tower has had many uses notably as a look out and signalling station during the Napoleonic Wars and as a Radar Tower during WWII.

Today the Tower is used as an Art Gallery and Tea Room, however, the building had issues that threatened to compromise it’s use, so it was with great pride when asked to be part of the restorative team.

There were many factors affecting the environmental conditions evident within the building, which included mould and high humidity / moisture levels. I was tasked with managing the drying and climatic control inside the building.

Working closely with the overall project manager and other specialist trades a strategy was put together to reduce the moisture levels and eradicate the mould present. As the Tower is approximately 86 ft in height incorporating 8 floors the appropriate air flow was critical.

Following the final restoration works the Naze Tower was re-opened to the public with the owner delighted with the results ensuring this Historical Building could continue to serve the community.
